Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of a President, Vice President, a Corporate Secretary, a Treasurer, and additional voting members which include a representative from the Unit’s successful volunteer program and one of the Mounted Patrol Officers. The current list of the Board of Directors is as follows.

President – Tom Tenges

Tom Tenges

Tom is the retired Executive Director of the Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges (LVAIC). He holds a B.A. in English from Moravian College. Tom previously served as Vice President of Moravian College, and a similar position at The Woodring-Roberts Corp. In addition to the FBMP, Tom currently serves on the Board of Directors of Bethlehem Area Moravians and as a Trustee of Central Moravian Church. He previously volunteered as a Board member for the Northampton Community College Foundation, a Trustee of Moravian College, and a Board member for the Bethlehem Area Chamber of Commerce. Tom lives in Bethlehem and enjoys biking, travel, reading, and volunteering.  He is privileged to work with the mounted patrol officers and colleagues on the FBMP Board.

Vice President – Greg Solderitch

Greg currently serves as a Vice President on the board of the Friends of the Bethlehem Mounted Police. Greg was born, raised, and still lives in Bethlehem. He attended Bethlehem Catholic High School and Moravian College.  He is a retired Captain on the Bethlehem Police Dept. Greg owns and rides horses for the past 21 years. Outside of riding, his other passions are golf and the Civil War.

Corporate Secretary – Stuart Bedics

Stuart served as member of the Bethlehem Police Department from 1987 to 2011, retiring at the rank of Police Commissioner. He was also one of the original members of the police administration in 2009 to develop and implement what is currently known as the Bethlehem Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit, which was formed under Mayor John Callahan’s administration. He is a proud supporter of the unit since it’s inception. Currently, Stuart is the Assistant Chief of Police at Lehigh University.

Treasurer – Michael Duffy

Mike Duffy

Mike resides in Bethlehem, PA with his wife and three children.  He holds a B.A. in Pre-Law and an M.B.A. in Project Management.  He currently holds the position at DeSales University of Director of Campus Environment and Procurement.  Mike has been a volunteer with the Bethlehem Mounted Patrol since July 2012.

 Board Member – Diane Mack, CCP

Diane Mack

Diane is the Assistant Controller at Pocono Produce Co., Inc, Stroudsburg, PA.  She received her BS in Business Administration from the University of Scranton, and is a Certified Payroll Professional and Paytrain University Instructor for the American Payroll Association.  In her spare time, Diane enjoys playing tennis, attending theatre and concerts, home remodeling projects, horses, and volunteering with the Mounted Patrol Unit.  Honored to serve on the Board, she is a Lehigh Valley resident and shares her home with three rescued cats.

Board Member – Herman Rij

Herm is a Founding Partner in Quadrant Private Wealth in May 2014 after 43 1/2 yrs. at Merrill Lynch. He was recognized by Barron’s Magazine as a Top Financial  Advisor from  2009 thru 2014. He earned a CIMA designation with IMCA ( Investment Management Consultants Association). Herm graduated from Albright College in 1966 with a BS in Economics and post graduate at Lehigh University in 1969 where he earned an MBA. He has been  married to Claire Risbon Rij since 1967. Herm has two daughters,Kori Lannon and Becky Rij Flynn, along with five granddaughters, Kerry, Elizabeth, Lora, Teegan, and Riley. His hobbies include reading, golf and has two dogs, Swedie and Phinney.

Board Member – Marissa Zondag

A Bethlehem resident for 23 years and recent graduate of Moravian College, Marissa has been involved in the Bethlehem community throughout her college and the beginning of her professional career.  With 16 years of competitive horseback riding experience, she was elected to be captain of the college’s equestrian team for three years and was able to meet the mounted unit through educational programs that the club participated in.  The club has continued to support the unit for the last four years, and Marissa was thrilled to be asked to join the board and continue her support for them after graduation.  She is employed at the Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation as the Annual Fund Officer.

Board Member – Marcia Theodoredis

Marcia’s career in marketing, advertising and communications includes 17 years at Rodale Press as Advertising Director for Runner’s World, Bicycling, Cross Country Skiing and Super Fit. She left Rodale as a Publisher and moved on to Lehigh University as a consultant where she headed a $33 million campaign to build the Zoellner Arts Center. She later joined Lehigh’s staff as Director of Community Relations and Government Affairs.  The balance of her career was spent working with people living with disabilities in our community. Marcia now enjoys retirement with her husband Stan, their dogs and her horses.

Board Member – Jan Ruhl

Jan is a resident of the Lehigh Valley for 40 plus years, attended Westminster College and American University and is the retired Executive Director of children’s books at Holt, Rinehart and Winston in NYC. She has served on numerous boards in the valley and was Woman of the Year in 2009 for her service of the Boys and Girls Club of Bethlehem.   She is married, has two grown children and lives on a small horse farm.

Board Member – Judith Deltuva

The officers on the Mounted Patrol Unit also sit on the Board of Directors as ex-officio members.

  1. How can I volunteer to help with the mounted unit? I’m a former horse owner, can walk horses, groom, clean stalls, feed etc. I work in peri operative surgical services at St. Lukes in Founrsin Hill, available evenings and weekends. My husband is a builder, contractor Snd worked on The building of The Burnside Barn in ’92. Look forward to hearing from you.
